Ron’s remarkable drawing ability revealed itself by age four, and he was a published illustrator while still in high school. Upon graduation, he held a few different jobs, including working as a letter carrier for Canada Post.
When, at 21, he finally decided to accept his destiny as an artist, he was hired on at a small design firm, and spent the next decade working as a graphic designer and art director for different agencies. Computer generated art had not yet become prevalent, and he became very skilled at quickly rendering ad concepts with markers, sometimes cranking out three or four in a day. Ron’s reputation as being ‘fast’ stems directly from this experience.
In 1991, he decided to try his hand at illustration again, and split his time between this and design for a while, until illustration won out and became his full time occupation. Since then, Ron has become equally adept at traditional and digital modes. Most of his work appears on packaging and advertising.
Some of Ron’s other passions include backpacking, nature photography and most recently, gardening.
