Wunderlich’s latest illustrations in Spring Magazine
Stephanie Wunderlich has contributed excellent illustrations for the latest edition of Spring Magazine. The pieces she created are for a reworking of Johann Wolfgang von Goethe’s “Reynard the Fox”.
The dynamic style of illustration Ms. Wunderlich chose perfectly matches the issues the story addresses: power, violence, guilt, intrigue, injustice and lies. Stephanie says, “It’s about greed, ambition, fickleness, cowardice, stupidity and deceitfulness. Reynard is both a repelling and fascinating subject.”
Like its predecessors, this issue of SPRING is a narratively creative experiment in which each illustrator enjoys their own freedom of interpretation. Each of the 12 artist has reworked one chapter of Goethe’s work. It is available now with English subtitles for those of us suffering from a lack of German in our diet.
